Thermogravimetric (TG) Measurements - Rubotherm DynTHERM Series

Thermogravimetric (TG) measurements are a well established method in materials science, physics and chemistry. The continuous weight measurement of a sample while exposing it to a temperature program under controlled atmospheric conditions provides information about chemical reactions and structural changes of the sample material.
As with all other Rubotherm gravimetric instruments our thermogravimetric analysers are equipped with the unique magnetic suspension balance. As a result of this, Rubotherm's DynTHERM line of TGA instruments can measure under conditions where all other instruments fail for example TG measurements can be made using corrosive or toxic atmospheres; in vapour and/or under high pressure conditions. The DynTHERM line of instruments is divided in low and high pressure analysers.
DynTHERM LP
The DynTHERM LP analysers are applied for TG measurements between vacuum and atmospheric pressure. Measurements with corrosive gases and vapours can be carried our without the need for balance purge gas. The analysers may be equipped with our sophisticated gas and vapour dosing and mixing devices, a pressure controller and gas sampling devices for MS and GC.
The DynTHERM LP instruments are available with the following specifications:

Extremely high heating rates (approx 8000 K/min) can be achieved using our unique setup allowing the sample to be inserted quickly into the pre-heated furnace while recording its mass. This is realised while the reactor is closed and only the controlled reaction gas atmosphere is in contact with the sample.
Main applications of the DynTHERM LP instruments are:
- high temperature corrosion studies (e.g. metal dusting)
- coal and biomass gasification
- catalyst testing (e.g. sulphidation)
- CVD coating
