Porolux 1000 - the most versatile porometer on the market
Merrow Scientific are the UK partner for Benelux Scientific supplying their Porolux 1000 porometer for measuring pore sizes of porous materials.
Benelux Scientific have been involved in porometers for many years starting off as a European sales and service channel for the Coulter Porometer and carrying on with successive newer devices. Realising the restrictions with existing designs, Benelux Scientific decided to become a manufacturer and develop their own system that not only built on existing instruments but improved the ease of use, technology used and versatility offered.

Method and Technology
The Porolux 1000 uses capillary flow porometry, a liquid extrusion technique in which the differential gas pressure and flow rates through wet and dry samples are measured.
Based on establised proven methods the instrument improves on the accuracy, ease of use and versatility offered by previous systems. The Porolux 1000 comes as standard with 3 flow meters, 2 pressure transducers, pressure regulator and needle valve, and advanced electronics and control system to maximise resolution and accuracy of measurement with dedicated software for instrument control and data acquisition and analysis. This allows the following characteristics to be measured accurately and easily:
- Measured and calculated bubble point
- Maximum pore size
- Mean flow pore size
- Minimum pore size
- Average pore size distribution of uniform materials
- Air permeability
Pore sizes from 15nm to 300micron diameter can be measured.
There are 3 different size sample holders that can be quickly switched between to allow the user to analyse a wide range of structures and materials.
