High Pressure Laboratory Stirred Reactors
Merrow Scientific are the UK partner for Autoclave Engineers, who have been manufacturing and leading the world in pressurized reaction equipment since the 1940s. Autoclave Engineers are noted for their history of safety and dependability, but also as an innovator in design. The magentically coupled agitator drive, Magnedrive, was originally conceived and designed by Autoclave Engineers along with a series of innovative pressure vessel styles.
Wide range of custom configurable stirred reactors
In order to meet customer's needs there are a wide variety of systems available that can be easily configured to meet their exact requirements, rather than them having to make do with a standard off the shelf item - the research requirement leads the design and configuration of the reactor rather than the other way.
As such volumes from 25ml up to several litres vessel sizes are readily available and a range of vessel types to meet the pressure and temperature requirements for the research.
Standard configurable systems include:
Mini Reactor
- Vessel volumes of 25, 50, 100 and 150ml
- Design pressures of 200 bar at 350degC (maximum operating 172bar @ 315degC)
- 316SS and Hastelloy C-276 vessel, valves, fittings etc (and other materials available)
- Simple hand tight closure for quick opening/closing
- Compact design with inline mixer and Mag3 agitator
- Control of temperature, speed and pressure available
- Compact design for simple integration into a multi-reactor system
- Glove box friendly

Zipperclave
- Quickest opening autoclave available (no bolts to torque or clamps or springs)
- MAWP (maximum allowable working pressure) of 151bar at 232degC

EZE-Seal
- Low bolting torque design

All of these systems can be easily configured in terms of internal and external accessories (e.g. gas inlets, sample tubes with filters, electric heater jackets). A wide range of impeller designs are also available (e.g. dispersimax for excellent gas entrainment, pitched blade turbine, rushton turbine). Various seal materials and vessel materials are available to meet your process requirements (in terms of corrosion resistance, temperature etc).
There are also a wide range of catalyst reactors available for integration with stirred reactors.

Controlling process parameters
Temperature, speed, pressure and a variety of other factors can be controlled using an Autoclave Engineers control tower. From the basic CT1000 tower to the configurable Sentinel system every parameter and design of reaction system can be controlled, monitored and recorded.
