Non-Contact Line Chromatic Confocal Sensor: The Ultimate Solution to Scan Large Areas

Altimet (represented by Merrow Scientific in the UK and Ireland) has recently implemented the first 'line chromatic confocal sensor' in the world in a profilometer. This pushes one step forward the non-contact sensing technology based on confocal chromatic imaging.
The standard range of our confocal chromatic sensors offer the following advantages when it comes to surface measurement:
- Suited for industrial environments
- Very accurate measurements
- Insensitive to ambient lighting
- Measure on any kind of material, reflective or diffusing
- Enhanced dynamic range thanks to the light source intensity management
- Excellent price/performance ratio
- Very long lifetime light source
- Saturation-free system
- Wide choice of measuring ranges
- Low power consumption
We do have a wide range of sensors available for our Altimet systems including interferometric, high res CCD, laser, and mechanical styluses so we have solutions for most measurement applications and resolutions required. But chromatic confocal's advantages mean a lot of hard to measure surfaces and applications are now not out of reach.
The new line chromatic confocal sensor includes all of the above but also means ultra fast non-contact measurement: speeds of up to 1800 lines per second (each line made of 180 discrete points) providing up to 324,000 measured points per second, so very fast and high accurate surface measurement.
More details on the Altimet range can be seen on our surface measurement page or if you'd like further information please don't hesitate to contact us
And lastly Happy New Year to you all.
