A new version of the magnetic suspension balance from Rubotherm has been launched for measurement of vapour pressure of substances. (available in the UK and Ireland through Merrow Scientific)

Vapour pressure is an important characteristic of a chemical and has to be determined for any new substance according to current European REACH regulations.

Our new system with Kundsen cell inside the magnetic suspension balance gravimetic system allows highly accurate recording of the weight change of the Knudsen cell under ultra-high vacuum coniditions, and additionally the special design of the instrument enables the reliable temperature control of the Knudsen cell in a wide temperature range.

The new instrument design combines a high flexibility for performing vapour pressure measurements with different test substances (liquid or solid) in a wide vapour pressure range, ease of operation, and high reproducibility and accuracy.

The unique patented design of the Rubotherm system and its magnetic coupling between precision balance and the sample chamber means we can establish ultra high vacuum around the sample, but also can ensure tighter temperature control in the Knudsen cell in those conditions (which is an issue on other designs).
